Get Lucky With Your AC & Save Some Green!

Feelin’ lucky this St. Patrick’s Day? If not, we’ve got some tips to bring good karma and positive HVAC vibes into your home this spring. Were talking about must-do maintenance tips that will help you save time and money on your home’s air conditioning unit.

Change your air filters regularly.

Clean, fresh air filters equal clean, fresh air — it really is that simple! Not only that, but swapping out the old debris filled filters for new ones will make it easier for your unit to function. Depending on the grade of filters you use, the frequency for changing filters can vary from once every month to once every three months.

Inspect air ducts for leaks often.

Hands down, you should be checking your air ducts at least semi-annually, making sure there’s no unexplained condensation or splits in the system. While you’re at it, check your vents too, to make sure no furry critters have taken up residence there over the winter.

Keep an eye on your condenser.

Clear any unruly brush out of the way while you’re performing spring pruning, and make sure there are no visible anthills and other pest infestations surrounding the condenser. As a general rule, you want to keep about a three-to-five foot radius around the unit clear at all times.

Book your seasonal maintenance early.

Beat the rush! Have a qualified HVAC technician come out to re-calibrate your thermostat, perform routine maintenance on your air conditioner, clean out your air ducts and service your condenser unit. Trust us — it may seems silly to think about AC while the weather is still so chilly, but you don’t want to be scrambling to get you air conditioner working in 80° weather either!
