The Benefits of Regular Furnace Maintenance

The summer season is about to end, which means you should be preparing for your annual furnace inspection. In today’s post, local AC repair company Tyler Heating, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration LLC discusses the benefits of keeping up with a regular maintenance routine for your furnace.

Stay warm all winter. Nobody wants their furnace unexpectedly breaking down in the middle of winter. Unfortunately, this is a fairly common problem, and the leading cause is lack of maintenance. A well-maintained furnace is one that you can count on to keep your family warm all winter long.

Avoid potentially expensive furnace repairs. Furnaces are subject to wear and tear, and they’ll succumb to damage at some point. Regular maintenance will allow your heating technician to spot potential problems and fix them before heating and AC repair costs get higher than they should. The best part of having furnace maintenance done in the fall is, in the event your furnace does require repairs, you and your family won’t have to endure an uncomfortably cold home while waiting for repairs to be done.

Prevent carbon monoxide from leaking. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that’s a byproduct of fuel not burning completely. It starves the human body of oxygen, which can lead to flu-like symptoms or loss of consciousness, and prolonged exposure to it can be fatal. During an inspection, a heating professional will test the furnace for leaks and make sure that all waste byproducts will be released outside through vent pipes and not into your home.

Improve indoor air quality. The air filter in your furnace helps keep indoor air pollutants out of the air ducts throughout your house. A clogged air filter can block airflow and cause these pollutants to recirculate in your living areas. It can also cause your furnace to work harder than necessary to meet your home’s normal heating requirements, resulting in higher fuel consumption. Regularly replacing the air filters can help ensure efficient operation and clean indoor air throughout the heating season.
