If you’re looking to install some CO alarms, you’re halfway there! Now you just have to make sure they’re installed in the right spots to maximize safety and protection for your family. As a general rule, make sure there’s always an alarm outside each sleeping area and on every floor. Is your garage attached to your home? If so, be sure to add a smoke detector outside the door.
Make sure your alarms are set up so they’re connected to one another. That way, if one sounds, they all will. CO can travel fast, so it’s best to alert everyone at home at the first detection.
When selecting your CO alarm, make sure the brand you select has been tested by a recognized and reliable testing laboratory. The more reputable the brand, the safer your family will be.
We don’t just mean if your alarms sound! You should also give their non-emergency line a call in advance to find out what measures you should be taking should your alarms sound in the future.
