Is My House an Ideal Home for Ductless AC?

Ductless air conditioning units can be beneficial for homes of all materials, layouts, shapes and sizes. However, there are a few specific kinds of homes that tend to lend themselves more freely to ductless over other types of AC units. That being said, if you’re considering upgrading from traditional window units to a ductless alternative and live in any of the following types of homes, we 100% suggest you take the plunge!

Older or Historic Homes

Back when older homes were created, central heating and cooling systems either weren’t around or weren’t as popular due to cost. For that reason, most times when purchasing an older home, you’ll be stuck using a window or portable unit unless you want to install all those air ducts. And even then, sometimes plaster walls and small crawl spaces can make that nearly impossible.

New Constructions

Plot twist! We bet you didn’t see that coming after the first home type above. Sure, your new home can be built with a central unit, but why waste the budget building all that duct work when you could install a better-regulated ductless mini-split system instead? That way, you’ll have even more design freedom!

Larger Homes or Homes With Add-Ons

You may think a larger home can benefit from a central unit, and while it certainly can, realize that it can also be difficult to regulate a temperature in such a large space. With ductless mini-splits, you can regulate the temperature in each room individually with ease. The same goes for homes with add-ons. Don’t spend all that money to switch up zoning and add ductwork — go ductless in those areas instead!
