We had a wonderful experience with Tyler Heating and Air conditioning! The technician arrived at my elderly mother in law house and was very patient and efficient. He even called before arriving so she would be prepared for him. The appointment was late in the afternoon but he was very thorough, polite and timely. He was kind and patient with my mother in law and she felt at ease and trusted that he was knowledgeable and efficient. He made some useful suggestions and we were able to pre-pay for the one time maintenance visit so there were no hassles on the day. All in all a great experience!!
DO NOT HSE THIS COMPANY!! they do not stand by their work and gouge you for money. Keep scrolling for another company before it’s too late. Edit: the owner of the company saw my 1 star review and responded promptly. The technician, who was excellent, came back out and repaired the unit to my satisfaction. It’s good to know a company will respond and react to negative feedback and work to resolve the matter. They have fully restored my trust and faith in their company, and that is priceless in this day and age.
Overpriced-I just paid $360.00 to replace a capacitor and perhaps there should be a big "L" on my back or you knew what you were getting into. Next time, I'll do it myself and save $340.00. Initially, Chris, the technician, came out on a routine inspection and found two problems-he stated that the capacitor was rusted and the air temperature while cold was not in the optimal zone. I chose to do the capacitor, as I did not note any cooling problem with my house. The total cost of both repairs would have been over $700, including inspection. Chris was very polite and professional, and I did not have a problem with him. However, Chris did not offer to do the capacitor work at the time of the inspection, as it was late in the day and he arrived approximately an hour beyond the 12-4 hour window, not his fault as we all have busy days. The return charge was an extra $84, which I do not believe it was fair to charge, as the total job took 15 minutes. The capacitor he brought was smaller than the original and he had to clip off part of the bracket and twist the metal. He explained that the smaller capacitor was no different than the larger original one that came with my Lennox, I believe that was correct but was concerned that the metal was twisted when he left. Essentially changing a capacitor takes 3 screws, hooking and unhooking three wires, turning off the electricity and making sure the capacitor is not charged. The total work-time was 15 minutes and the replacement part could not have cost more than $15-17. I understand that everyone has to make a living and that when I call service I am paying for the technician's time, the truck, everyone in the office and overhead, but $360 for 15 minutes of work is still ridiculous, even if I initially knew the cost. What I didn't know was how little labor and time went into it, until I started researching it, and by then it was too late. Also, as stated above, if the capacitor was all I needed, and it is a generic part that fits any brand of air conditioner, I should, minimally, not be paying for a return service call, it should be done at the time of inspection. Overall, I would not be inclined to use Tyler again unless they revised their pricing to fairly reflect their work, the parts, and time. Post Script:
The owner contacted me after this review and we had a good discussion about pricing. He agreed to take off $84 for the return service call (as the technician could have done the work at the time of the inspection). Minus the service charge the cost of the capacitor cost $256. I researched the cost of a capacitor replacement and the range is between $100-$300 using a professional service, putting Tyler in the higher but acceptable range. Overall, I was happy with the service and thought the owner was very professional and polite with his response to my complaint. I would consider using Tyler again, as they do good work, but would probably do more research on pricing next time.
I recently had to replace my central air conditioning unit. I contacted 4 companies and received quotes from all of them. My first good impression of this company was when I met James H. who came to my house as their sales rep. He was absolutely professional. He worked with me on several occasions to make sure the quote was clear and well explained. They were not the lowest quote BUT they were certainly in the ballpark and I realized they were giving me greater value than the other companies that were all taking short cuts...reusing of old parts!! etc... The first group of installers (Vinnie and Brendan) worked nonstop in a great team effort. I have had a lot of people do work in my house before, and these guys were an absolute pleasure to have working here the entire day. The second group of installers (Vinnie again and Justin) were just a continuation of the first good experience. I plan to continue with Tyler for maintenance. The grade I give this company is an A+. I dont give too many A grades by the way!
If I was able to give a six star rating, I would have done so. From the professionalism from the initial visit and review of my A/C needs to the proposal and very timely installation, Tyler Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration was terrific.
However, what truly makes Tyler stand out is when something does go wrong and how they stand by their work. Right after the initial installation their was an issue with a drain line which caused water leakage. The issue was quickly resolved with an in-house repair carpenter who spent over a day at my home with a complete and thorough repair.
The staff answering the phone and setting up the estimate were very friendly, kind and professional. The staff doing the installation were also very professional and efficient. The staff doing the financial and loan application were kind and helpful. After the installation I had questions about different issues that were not answered- made me wonder if the kindness shown before the installation was just to get the business.. only time will tell..
We just had a new furnace installed today by Bill and Justin they were very prompt, courteous and very professional. They explained the unit and answered all our questions. We are very pleased with the outcome. Thank you Tyler Heating for the professional services you gave our family .
We have become Tyler fans. We had a hard job - 118 year old brick/stucco Tudor with central air on one floor and seven ductless units on the other floors - mostly through brick! It is clear that Tom on the sales side, and Donny on the service/tech side, know their HVAC systems well and put together a great proposal and solution for us. Donny and his team worked tirelessly and with care to meet our needs, including desired aesthetics for our National Historic facility. We got to know Donny and some of the other guys, and found them to have great hearts and work ethic. It was a gift to have them service our home/facility. … B Halsted
