Single Zone
Think of a window A/C, but better, more quiet and much more energy efficient. Much like a window A/C, a single zone unit corresponds to one single compressor. Only the compressor is outdoors and not attached to the blower and obstructing the beautiful view out your window. Like most other air conditioner options, the compressor is responsible for carrying refrigerant and power to the indoor component. The is done using a small pipe inserted into a small opening, which means little-to-no impact on your home’s structure overall.
Multi-Zone
Now, switch gears to a central heating and air conditioner thought process — only without all the pesky ductwork and much more temperature control. A multi-zone unit connects a single outdoor compressor to as many as nine indoor units. The best part? Each indoor unit is controlled individually by its own wireless remote. That way, you can personalize the temperature in each room where an indoor unit is present. Not sure how many units you’ll need? No problem. As long as you install at least two from the start, you can always add additional units later one.
