In the 1960s and 1970s, Fairfield County′s commercial real estate exploded because of corporations relocating to Stamford (and other surrounding cities) from New York. During that time, a massive urban redevelopment campaign brought on a downtown area with many tall and luxurious office buildings. The University of Connecticut also has a commuter campus in Stamford that offers a 4–year undergraduate degree in seven disciplines and 90+ majors.
