Orange shares its rural roots with residents and visitors at the annual Orange County Fair, an event that began in 1898 and was revived in 1975. The moderate climate provides beautiful weather for all participants at the fair. And even though the town′s name is Orange, you don′t want to miss the famous Strawberry Festival.Orange is 17 square miles of rolling hills and lush woodlands and was once the homeland of the Paugusset Indians. In 1639, Reverend Peter Prudden purchased the land from the Indians for six coats, twelve hoes, ten blankets, two dozen knives, one kettle, twelve hatchets, and a dozen small mirrors.
Orange boasts grand homes, an abundance of excellent restaurants, and an inspiring and historic downtown. Orange is a desirable town with an above–average school district, friendly community services, and easy access to urban areas. And be sure to make it to Orange for their annual Lobster Fest.
